Given a finite group GG, we call the minimal degree of a faithful transitive permutation representation of GG the permutation degree of GG.

Equivalently, it is the smallest positive integer nn such that SnS_n has a transitive subgroup isomorphic to GG.

This can be computed as the minimal index of a subgroup with trivial core.
